Literature Text

I can hear the beating in the air at night,
your wings keeping you afloat and at a distant height.
It's so familiar while it resonates within my chest,
but all too suddenly you disappear once the sun begins to crest.
I've come to cherish those moments that I spend awake,
waiting for you to find me a worthy sake.
Maybe if I bothered to call...
Maybe if I aimed my whispers to the sky instead of the wall...
Would you hear me now?
Seraphim,
sweet Seraphim,
lend me your alabaster wings as a tourniquet for my broken heart.
Allow me to dream any dream that doesn't have anyone else,
none of them.
Not a single one of the blurred out faces,
just let me escape all of these places.
Diamond stained eyes watch me with a million facets,
I know you're judging me right up until I lay within my casket.
And there are a lot of things that I have done wrong,
so much anger that I've held onto for so very long.
But I am telling you that I want so much to let it go...
Erase it completely so that I may never know.
Maybe then you'd allow me to become part of the sky,
to leave this world behind.
Sarah,
sweet Sarah,
don't you cry for me.
The light of the moon will alight upon your wings,
and I will promise you a million things.
Each one more extravagant than the last,
just promise me back that you will help me forget all of my past...
